It gives me immense pleasure to welcome you to the department of Computer Applications. Equipped with the state of art infrastructure and highly qualified and dedicated faculty, the department holds a key position in the college and acts as a backbone by providing and maintaining quality services.
Here, our constant endeavour is to impart quality education to the students to produce guided skill full, peace-loving professionals/technologists and leaders having wisdom and knowledge to prove productive and self sufficient in the challenging world outside.
The department aims to provide the services as per the demand of the global market/industry and tries to bridge the gap between the two. It primarily focuses on the research work to generate knowledge that leads to innovation which in turn will promote entrepreneurship.
To disseminate knowledge for betterment of the society.
To achieve academic excellence and to produce research/innovation oriented and talented, responsible human resource capable of learning and contributing towards development of the community.

About Department:

Established in the year 2002, the department of computer applications has latest state-of-art laboratories and 24 hour internet connectivity through broad band connection. The faculty comprises of dedicated young professionals holding experience and expertise. Distinguished guest faculty from reputed institutions of the state are periodically involved with the teaching programme to expose students to the best minds in the field. The Department has necessary infrastructure and ideal ambiance for teaching-learning process/ programme.
The college initiated teaching of Computer Science Applications in 2002 with the introduction of BCA affiliated with the University of Kashmir. BCA is whole time, 3 year, programme after 12 years of schooling. The BCA programme was designed to generate manpower trained in the latest applications of computer technology. In the year 2017, the department introduced a 5 year integrated (BCA-MCA) course affiliated with the Cluster University, Srinagar. Additionally, the department is offering skill enhancement courses as one subject to the Non-BCA students of both Kashmir University as well as Cluster University.. Over the years Department has progressed at a rapid pace with its infrastructural facilities, advanced syllabi and proficient staff who are a part of various research and development activities.

The major achievements of the department for the year 2017 are as under.
Introduction of MCA Course: The department introduced 5 year integrated BCA-MCA course under the Cluster University Srinagar.

Design and Framing of syllabus: The syllabus for the 1st two semesters of the newly introduced 5 year integrated BCA-MCA course was successfully designed/framed and submitted to the cluster university.

Introduction of Computer as a Subject for Non-BCA: The department introduced Computer Applications as one of the subject for Non-BCA (General) students under the Cluster University Srinagar.

Design and Framing of syllabus: The syllabus for the 1st two semesters of the newly introduced computer subject was successfully designed/framed and submitted to the cluster university.

Establishment of New Lab:- To provide better facility for the students, a new computer lab has been established in the Arts block for the students.

Infrastructure Development:, The infrastructure of the department has been strengthened by way of augmenting 40 (Forty) latest configuration systems to the labs.

Certification Courses Conducted: As part of quality improvement, a one month certificate course (CCC) was organised for the students and a month long skill enhancement extension course has been successfully conducted for the local fund employees of the college.

Workshops Conducted: A two day workshop on “Photography” from 9-11 September 2017 and a one day workshop on “Open Source Technologies and Advanced System Software Development” on 12-10-2017 were organised by the department in which experts and researchers from premier institutions/universities shared their knowledge with the students and staff.


The major activities recently undertaken by the department are as under :
 One month Certificate Course (CCC) for students.
 Two days workshop for MCMP students.
 One month Extension/Skill Enhancement Course for local fund employees.
 One day workshop for BCA Students.
